One of my favorite professional wrestlers has a new gig that fits her to a T.
Or, is that a high C?
Shaloncé Royal hasn’t been in a ring for a while (due to injury), but she’s making an impact with children in her hometown. She’s been working behind the scenes at Hazelwood Prep in Georgia for the last year to improve the education opportunities for their students. Now, she’s preparing to take on a challenge even greater than grappling with Freya the Slaya: teaching music to a new generation.
Student at Hazelwood will learn vocal technique, music theory, and music history from wrestling’s musical diva. They’ll receive one on one guidance from a singular talent committed to helping each child find their own artistic voice.
Shaloncé spoke highly of her own music teachers when I interviewed her a few years back. She’s grateful for the lessons and the encouragement she received and eager to do the same for the kids at Hazelwood Prep.
But Shaloncé, and the kids, need some help!
A simple donation, however small, can make a huge impact in the lives of some kids. In a time when many schools are (again??) considering cutbacks to the arts, it’s a great way to invest in the future, and a great way to support one of your favorite OVW stars.
“What do you mean, favorite OVW stars? We hated Shaloncé!”
Then look at it this way: a LARGE donation to Hazelwood Prep’s music department might convince her to stay in the classroom and never wrestle again!
Okay, probably not. But come on. It’s for the kids!

And if you want to know more about the Diva herself, might I suggest some reading for fall? She is on the cover, after all.
