The management of Powerbomb took exception to part of my coverage of their debut show a few months back. I met up with them for lunch this week, and they asked me to set the record straight.
Powerbomb is not being invaded.
I repeat: Powerbomb is absolutely NOT being invaded.
There is no invasion imminent.
No one is invading. Not EC3, not Brandon Baretta, not Connor Knox, not even Sophia Rose.
Powerbomb is not in danger of invasion. They’re so safe from Invasion, that their upcoming show on September 14 is called…
Wait for it…
Uninvaded!
Powerbomb will be returning to the scene of their debut on September 14, Logan Street Market. They’re bringing back some old friends – Dream Girl Ellie, Mance Warner, Big Beef, Ethan Heyre, Orion – and some new pals like Steph De Lander, “Big Al” Alice Crowley, Sam Beale, and NWA star Carson Drake.
EC3, Sophia Rose, and others will be in attendance too. But this is not an invasion.
It’s not happening.
I repeat: No one is invading Powerbomb!
The only thing more certain than the fact that Powerbomb is not being invaded is that Bryan Kennison and Stevie J are having a blast. The young promotion – which, again, is not all about wrestling – has some huge announcements forthcoming about sponsorships, both local and national. They’re also planning more concerts, more comedy shows, and more opportunities to bring their beloved Germantown together.
The brand is getting attention. People are legitimately excited. There’s even a documentary crew following the company. They were so excited to see the way Bryan and Stevie J have engaged the community, they wanted to capture that excitement on camera.
The boys are also receiving text and phone calls from wrestlers eager to visit – not invade, but visit – the promotion.
Because no one is invading Powerbomb!
You can also expect to see some truly unique gimmick matches in September and beyond. The kind of matches Bryan and Stevie J used to dream up over a few beers. The kind they were told, “That will never work.”
Now, we’re all going to see if they work, together.
But we will not see an invasion. Because Powerbomb is Uninvaded.
