There’s money in having Mad Man Pondo tell stories. I saw it back in 2016 when I started talking to him about writing his memoir. Ten years and one best seller later, happy to say I was right and Pondo was wrong.
Pondo sees it now too. He’s turning his stories into a new comedy set, and he’s giving it a trial run on Wednesday, July 22. It’s open mic night, and the Louisville Comedy Club is giving Pondo the headlining spot for his new presentation, “Would I Lie?”
Here’s the premise. Pondo has some amazing stories about people and especially celebrities he’s encountered. They’re so fantastic, you’ll be tempted to say he’s lying. Then he whips out his phone and says, “Here’s the photo.”
Instead of a phone, Pondo will have a tripod and plenty of pictures to share.
If you ask me, the Louisville Comedy Club will be the first of many places to cash in on the Mad Man Pondo storytelling experience. It’s a free show, so long as you order two items from the kitchen. And while open mic nights can be hit and miss, Pondo will pack the house for his first headlining appearance.
The Louisville Comedy Club is located at 110 W Main Street in downtown Louisville, Kentucky. The show takes place Wednesday night, July 22. Doors open at 6, show starts at 7.
