I posted this to Facebook this morning. No real reason, no provocation. Just something that I felt needed to be said.
And worth sharing on the blog.
Eat Sleep Wrestle does not run ads.
We do not post click-bait articles that bury the information teased.
We do not make you scroll past multiple banner ads and pop ups (except required by law).
And we’ll never deal in “hot takes” or provocative headlines.
I don’t like how most websites are run these days – teasing posts on social media, then forcing you to scroll and scroll for what turns out to be nothing at all. And to be clear, this is not a slight toward any wrestling websites because I don’t read many them. The sites that annoy me most are movie and TV websites. You know, the ones who were all about destroying The Acolyte when it was released on Disney+ and are now leading the crusade for a second season.
Oh, and let’s not leave out the cooking websites. The ones that post a novel in front of ever recipe, forcing you to scroll and scroll and scroll past their ads and in order to skip over how much they miss mamaw’s cooking how the changes they made to the recipe seemed to really make it better.
Yeah, I really hate those websites.
I say all this to reinforce something I’ve previously said:
Eat Sleep Wrestle is human. There’s no algorithm at work, no ad machine to feed. Heck, I don’t even bother much with SEO and website optimization. I barely have time enough to keep telling stories about pro wrestling.
Oh yeah, and there’s no AI at work here either. No AI research, and no AI writing. That means the dashes in my text – and there are many, sometimes – were made by a human, thank you very much.
And no AI book covers. All covers were created by real people. Some by brilliant artists, and a few by me using Canva.
We’re here to tell stories and do right by pro wrestling and the people in the business. Period.
Yes, we have to make money to stay online, and thankfully we do make enough on books even in lean times to stay in the black. But nobody’s getting rich here.
You want stories about indie wrestling? Wrestling’s past? You want to see the good side of pro wrestling? To celebrate successes? To be inspired?
That is why we are here.
Happy reading.
