Eat Sleep Wrestle TONIGHT: a wrestling road trip 11 years in the making

Posted on June 15, 2026 by eatsleepwrestle

I never intended to be one of those guys (or websites) writing recaps of wrestling shows. I mean, there are so many of them. Highly monetized sites, including one I used to write for, all the way down to humble blogs. You know, like mine.

I fell in love with independent wrestling even before my first book Bluegrass Brawlers hit the market. It was my excuse to go to shows back then. The connections, the friendships, the family that happened as a result is why I continue going.

Over the last 11 years I’ve written about dozens of promotions and events across seven states. I’ve covered AEW and Hall of Fame events for Slam!, and I’ve recapped multiple indies purely for the love of it.

As I worked my way through blog posts last spring, compiling interviews into the book Eat Sleep Wrestle Repeat, I decided I would come back “one day” and do the same with all those events. I even knew then what I would call the book: Eat Sleep Wrestle Tonight, as in “Tonight, in a ring near you…”

That day came sooner than expected, and I’m glad it did.

Eat Sleep Wrestle Tonight is more than jut a reprint. It’s a journey. My journey. It became a chance to share stories I’ve told on podcasts and among friends. A chance to revisit road trips and good memories. A chance to talk about some of the incredible people I’ve collaborated with: Dr. D David Schultz, Princess Victoria, Mad Man Pondo, Tracy Smothers, and “Hurricane” JJ Maguire.

The book will take you back to the dawn of a few careers, seeing stars like Ace Austin and Billie Starkz have their first matches. You’ll cross paths with a pre-AEW MJF as well as the game-changer that was ALL IN. You’ll see indies rise and fall. You’ll witness the post-Netflix resurgence of OVW. And you’ll read personal memories of sharing wrestling shows with my family – especially, my daughter, who put on a show with Grindhouse to help kids with cancer.

If you love indie wrestling, you’ll love this book.

If you’ve never experienced the indies, this book may change your mind on giving them a shot.
