Girl Fight Wrestling has granted Eat Sleep Wrestle total access to the roster for its second midnight show, Midnight Girl Fight 2: Howdy, Pilgrim! Today is part seven of this series, featuring Samantha Heights.
There is a house in Dayton, Ohio (no, not New Orleans) where aspiring wrestlers go to become great. The men and women who enter this house, who feed off the energy and the passion of their housemates, are shaping one another into the best of the best of a new generation. Unfortunately for young Billie Starkz, her opponent at Midnight Girl Fight 2 is one of the many residents of this very house.
“Honestly, I look at the wrestlers in Dayton as my family in and out of the ring,” says Samantha Heights, a long-time fixture at Dayton’s Rockstar Pro Wrestling. “I live in a house with some of the best upcoming wrestlers in the world. We always hold each other accountable and push each other to be better every single day. We support each other and celebrate our big moments together and we lift each other up when something goes wrong. We bring it the best in one another. Competition breeds success, and that’s obvious if you look at any of us. Rockstar gives us a home to practice and hone our craft and weekly shows as a platform to showcase our talents. It really doesn’t get any better than Dayton, Ohio.”
Samantha is also a long-time member of the Girl Fight roster, and she’s proud of the legacy she helped to create. “Over the last few years, I feel like the company has really come into it own and has finally found itself and what works for its crowd. It’s given young talent a place to het comfortable in front of an audience and has become somewhat of a developmental program for women’s wrestling.”
Samantha was one of the four women who tore the house down in Fort Wayne, Indiana in the spring of 2017 at Heroes and Legends in a match I’ve written about previously. It was a falls count anywhere, no DQ, tag team bout pitting her and Amazing Maria against Mickie Knuckled and Dementia D’Rose. It was an absolute show stealer and one of my all time favorite matches. naturally, I had to ask her about it.
“That match was definitely one of my favorites as well. We went out there with the intention of having some fun and giving the crowd something that they wouldn’t forget. I would definitely say that’s what we accomplished. The things that stand out the most for me with that match were when we got power bombed onto the tables that wouldn’t break and taking suplex after suplex into the doors. You just don’t realize how hard that wood is until you’re getting slammed into it.”
Samantha is on a hot streak as of late. She recently made her debut for Ring of Honor, and she was in a main event brawl at Rockstar Pro with one of the most under-rated wrestlers in the world, Aaron Williams. I asked Samantha if all her recent success might have her looking past the brash, young Billie Starkz.
“Absolutely not. I’ve known Billie for quite some time now. I’ve seen her go from a little girl taking pictures behind the scenes to someone who commands the crowd with her charisma. I know exactly who Billie is and what she’s capable of. The problem is, she’s never been in the ring with someone like me. I’m more traveled and more experienced than anyone she has been in the ring with so far. Places like ROH, Shimmer, and Rockstar have given me the opportunity to step in the ring with literally the best in the world, like Aaron Williams. This match won’t be a test for me, this will be a test for Billie to see how far she has come and how ready she is to really step into the world of professional wrestling.”
Samantha Heights vs. Billie Starkz is part of a stacked card at Midnight Girl Fight 2, and Samantha is looking forward to stealing the show. “Not only is this a chance to see some of the best women’s wrestling in Indiana, but it’s a chance for fans to come have fun and get away from the stresses of the real world and forget about all of the bull s–t that the holidays will bring just a few days after. It’ll be one last carefree moment before the insanity of Black Friday.”
Fans can see Samantha and more at Midnight Girl Fight 2 on November 21 at the Arena in Jeffersonville, Indiana, 1416 Spring Street. Bell time is at 11:59 PM.
